Securing the Expected Standard in Writing by the end of Year 6 – CPD Offer – Morning Session
Teaching and learning writing workshop session to be supported by the KS2 LA Moderation Team
Led by: Catriona Fletcher, supported by Deb Lyons and the KS2 Moderation Team
To support Y6 teachers in identifying the strengths and aspects requiring further work in writing for pupils on track to achieve the expected standard by the end of this academic year, in order to prioritise and plan to address the gaps.
This session is intended to inform teaching and learning and is not judgement based. As such, participants will be asked to select one pupil deemed to be on track to reach the expected standard in writing by the end of the year and share three representative pieces of writing for this pupil. These pieces will be discussed in small groups during the workshop element of the session in terms of strengths and next steps. Details of how and when to share these pieces of writing ahead of the session will be sent with delegate confirmations.
- Standardisation input using sample STA exemplification to secure a collective understanding of writing at the expected standard.
- Workshop session to be facilitated by moderators focusing upon pupils selected by participating teachers from each school.
- Collective findings to celebrate strengths and inform the teaching and learning that follows.
- Input around recommended texts and linked writing tasks.
The sessions will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. Joining instructions will be sent with delegate confirmations.
(NB please register all delegates email addresses who wish to attend – thank you)
