What can we take from 2024 tests?

An informative, analytical and inspiring training day with Maddy Barnes about what we can learn from the 2024 reading and GaPS tests and the 2023-2024 moderation cycle for writing.  The objectives are:

• To share an analysis of the 2024 KS2 Reading test and identify the main implications for teaching
• To share an analysis of the 2024 KS2 GaPS test and identify the main implications for teaching
• To share an analysis of the 2023-2024 writing moderation cycle and identify implications for all year groups
• To identify how we can prepare pupils to reach the expected standard and greater depth standard in reading and writing in 2025
• To engage readers and inspire writers by choosing high quality texts and related writing opportunities to prepare for the 2025 assessments
• To explore a variety of approaches used to embed GaPS within the everyday English lesson
• To examine different question types and the skills required to answer them
• To share the newest books that can support learning in the classroom
