This Professional Development course is intended for Senior Leaders in particular those with responsibility for leading English.

Maddy, is an English Advisor and provides training for schools and alliances locally, nationally and internationally.  She is passionate about ‘getting it right’ for children and has become a key part of our CPD offer here in Bolton.

This training day will cover the following:

• An analysis of the 2026 end of KS2 Reading and GaPS tests identifying the main implications for teaching including adaptive teaching strategies for all to succeed,
• An overview of the optional 2026 KS1 Reading and GaPS tests identifying the main implications for teaching including adaptive teaching strategies for all to succeed,
• An analysis of the 2025-2026 end of KS2 writing moderation cycle to identify implications for all year groups including adaptive teaching strategies for all to succeed,
• An update on developments at local and national level including the implications for English of the Curriculum and Assessment Review and the ongoing National Year of Reading.
• A supported session focusing upon approaches to English monitoring and action planning in order to drive continued improvement.
