4. Support families to become familiar with the resources you use in school/settings to engage children’s reading
Reading is often referred to as the invisible process as ‘good readers’ appear to have a natural ability to make sense of reading without a visible process. However, to ensure reading success for all, it is essential to break this process down to enable all learners to acquire the necessary skills for reading success. In 2018 a group of Bolton Schools worked together to produce visuals that could be used to support the teaching and learning of discrete reading skills.[expand title=”Click Here for more information”]
These can be used with families to encourage children to consolidate skills at home.
